There are many great themes in the book of Joshua. I've just picked a few. Joshua, a patriarch of the Bible, has always been one of my favorites, since he showed up in scripture first as an assistant to Moses, next as a spy then as commander of Israels's army. God chooses him as Moses successor, and the leader of Israel as they claimed the promised land of Israel.

God is our source of courage and strength. This is true no matter our circumstances, in times of fear or danger. Not one of His promises fail. God is always faithful. So be bold! Stand firm in your commitments.
God is always in control and fights all our battles. We will come up against all sorts of “giants” determined to defeat us. Be still and wait patiently for the Lord. Find encouragement through the victories God sends our way. Know that the Lord God will be exalted in all the earth.

God keeps His promises to us. Keep in mind that we have responsibilities also – unwillingness to follow God leads to unintended and unplanned consequences. (God’s people lost their inheritance and were taken into captivity for their disobedience). We can draw close to God by meditating on His Word, living in obedience to Him and drawing near to Him in prayer.

God will give us a choice of how we want to live…

… BUT… We have to live with the consequences of our choices. Serving God is an all-in sold out commitment.
It is our faith that determines our place in the kingdom of God. We have hope of eternal life through faith in our Lord Jesus.
